Adult Choirs

Greg Watkins

Greg Watkins is an award-winning artist; respected pianist, singer, actor, musical director, composer, and purpose-filled educator. An alumnus of The Duke Ellington School of the Arts and Howard University (B.M. Music Education), Mr. Watkins is a two-time Dr. Quincy Jones award recipient (ASCAP Foundation/Cherry Lane Foundation/Music Alive, 2008; The Raney-Moss Group, 2019), and Helen Hayes Award Winner for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Musical (Legally Blonde, 2019, Keegan Theatre). Until September 2020, Mr. Watkins served 11 consecutive years as the artistic director of The MusicianShip Washington Youth Choir where he was responsible for cultivating a dynamic choral music program for middle and high school students across the Washington metropolitan area. Mr. Watkins currently serves as Director of STEAM and Arts Innovation at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts.

 

Handbells

Sandra Eithun

M.M.Ed--is a graduate of Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, WI, with an emphasis in the Kodály teaching method, keyboard, and flute. She is currently on the faculty at Holy Family Conservatory of Music in Manitowoc, WI, leading the handbell program there.  She served as Director of Music Ministry, handbell director, children’s choir director, organist and choral accompanist at First Congregational United Church of Christ in New London, WI, from 1992-2021.  She directed the Silver Lake College Handbell Ensemble from 2009-2020, is an active member of the Handbell Musicians of America and has served on their Area VII Board of Directors. 

 

Youth Choirs

Tim Brendler

Mr. Timothy Brendler is the Visual and Performing Arts Department Head and Director of the Music Theory and Piano Program at I.M. Terrell Academy for STEM and VPA in Ft. Worth ISD. Mr. Brendler was named the 2021 Bayard H. Friedman Chair, recognized for his exemplary teaching in performing arts. At the state level, Mr. Brendler serves as the Small School Area Vocal Chair. He earned an MM in Choral Conducting from Baylor University, MA in Christian Ministry with a concentration in Youth, Family, and Student Ministry from George W. Truett Theological Seminary (Baylor), and a BM in Church Music from St. Olaf College where he sang with the internationally renowned St. Olaf Choir.

 

Children’s Choirs

Rae Ann Anderson

Rae Ann Anderson is the Director of Music for St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Glenside, Pennsylvania. In addition, she is also the Director of the Gleeksman-Kohn Children’s Choir of Settlement Music School, the largest community school of the arts in America. This is a program that consists of four Settlement branch choirs that combine to become a 75 voice children’s choir. Ms. Anderson did her professional study in Missouri, Ohio, and Germany.

 

Organ and Worship

Dr. Ron Davis

Dr. Ron Davis served as organ clinician and worship pianist at Massanetta Conference Center in 2018 and 2019.  He is currently serving as Music Associate at Boulevard Baptist Church of Anderson SC where he is organist and handbell director and Adjunct Professor of Organ at Anderson University.  He recently retired from his full-time collegiate teaching career, having taught organ, theory, voice, handbells and related sacred music courses at Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee, OK, and Presbyterian College, Clinton, SC.  He has been heard as organ recitalist and/or collaborative organist throughout the United States, and in London, England (Westminster Abbey), and Scotland and Canada.  Dr. Davis has also led many hymn festivals throughout the American south and south-east.

 

Harp

Dr. Jen Narkevicius

 Dr. Jen Narkevicius teaches and performs in the Washington DC area. Her innovative teaching mixes techniques based on her experience educating gifted and talented students, and ergonomics.  She leads trips to Scotland, pairing the music with the places, people and events that inspired it.  She is a Certified Music Practitioner (CMP), providing live music at the bedside for hospital patients who are alone at the end of life.  She holds a PhD in Cognitive Psychology, with master’s degree in Special Education: Gifted and Talented. 

 

Children's Orff & Movement

Michael Groff

Michael Groff is an educator and church musician, based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He is currently the Lower School Music and Movement teacher at Greenhill School in Addison, TX. Prior to his appointment at Greenhill School, he spent five years as the Associate Director of Music at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church. Groff holds an MM in Organ Performance from Baylor University and a BM in Music Education (Voice & Organ) from Susquehanna University. He is a certified EC-12 Music teacher, Musikgarten teacher, and is a certified Orff Schulwerk teacher.

Opening Day

3:00 - Registration Begins. If arriving after 5:00 p.m. go to Historic Hotel Front Desk

4:00 - Pick Up Choir Rehearsal in Hudson Auditorium

5:30 - Dinner in the Dining Hall

7:00 - Worship followed by Evening Activity

Daily Schedule for Bible & Church Music Conference

7:00-7:50 yoga (M-Th)

7:30-8:30 breakfast

8:30-8:45 devotion at the springs

8:45-9:00 advanced handbells arrive to set up

9:00-9:50 music block one (HS choir, MS bible study/art, adv handbells, intermediate harp)

9:10-9:55 day camp music block one (K-2 choir, 3-5 Orff)

9:15-10:30 Bible study

10:00-10:50 music block two (MS choir, HS Bible study/art, conference choir)

10:00-10:45 day camp music block two (3-5 choir, K-2 Orff)

 10:45-12:00 Forums

11:00-11:50 music block three (reading sessions, advanced harp, organ meets to depart at 11, returns for lunch)

10:50-11:35 day camp music block three (movement and camp activities alternating days)

11:45-12:30 day camp lunch

12:30-1:15 conferences lunch

 1:30-2:25 conference choir, intermediate handbells (except Wednesday)

 2:30-4 workshops (M-Th John Bell, F children and youth concert)

4-6 free time (art space, pickup choirs, meetings, pool, rest, etc)

4:15-5:05 chamber choir

5:30-6:30 dinner

7:00-8:15 worship

8:15-9:15 evening activities

Closing Day (Saturday)

All Conference activities conclude on Friday Night. Breakfast is served on Saturday morning (included with registration) and check out time is 10:00 a.m.
