Service and Sabbath Weekend Announced

Over the last several months, Massanetta has been working hard to fulfill our mission, “to be a place for all people to experience God through renewal, discovery, and hospitality,” even in the midst of a global pandemic. Many of our tried and true methods of meeting our mission have not been possible.

“We have missed welcoming the Massanetta Community to our campus,” said Executive Director Rev. Clayton Rascoe. “If we needed proof that it is really the people who love this place that really make it special, that has been done a thousand times over.”

But there are signs of life returning slowly to campus. We welcomed our first overnight guest group since March in mid-September, and EduCamp is happening four days a week. With groups slowly returning, and Massanetta still feeling the financial strain of the pandemic, help is needed to keep our beloved place in the condition where everyone can enjoy it. And so, the first ever Service and Sabbath Weekend was born for October 23 - 25, 2020!

When dreaming up this event, Debbie Reese, Chair of the Massanetta Springs Board of Trustees’ Facilities Committee said, “Our beloved Massanettna could use a little TLC. I bet people could use some rest as well. I hope they’ll join us at Massanetta for a Service & Sabbath weekend.  It’s a way to be at our beloved place while following social distancing protocols and other measures. I can’t wait to be there, and hope other folks will take advantage of the opportunity.”

Rev. Rascoe also mentioned, “We’re usually booked solid on weekends in October. This may be the one chance folks can have to reserve a spot with us in what is usually our prime fall season with only a month’s notice. While we certainly wish that wasn’t the case, we’ll be glad to share this special place with people during a glorious time of year, and to provide an opportunity for service and some much needed Sabbath.”

More details on the event are below. If you have any questions, you can email Rachael Brannock at rachael@massanettasprings.org or call 540-434-3829.
