EduCamp Launches Thanks To Community Generosity
On September 14, Massanetta Springs welcomed our first in person program since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. EduCamp is a program designed for children grades 3 - 8 to have a safe, socially distanced, space to complete their school district’s virtual schooling, and to also take advantage of the unique opportunities of our beautiful setting.
When the program was first envisioned, we wanted to find a way to make it accessible. Our community stepped up in a huge way. First, through The Community Foundation’s COVID-19 Relief Fund, a scholarship fund was established. “The $10,000 grant we received from The Community Foundation ensures Massanetta Springs will be able to offer this program to anyone in need of it, regardless of their ability to afford it. We are deeply grateful for this grant,” said Rev. Clayton Rascoe, Executive Director of Massanetta Springs.
Secondly, community members have begun to step up to help fund other areas. The first is the law firm of Botkin Rose here in Harrisonburg. Their generosity sponsored a week of camp. Their sponsorship will provide a small discount/refund to camper families for the week of September 28th, provide for special activities during the week, and support EduCamp in other meaningful ways. “These weekly sponsorships really enable us to add more to the program, and provide a small cost break to the families who participate. Our gratitude goes to Botkin Rose for being the first to help EduCamp through sponsorship.,” said Rascoe.
