Mission @ Massanetta

Overview

A year-round Mission Opportunity

Due to Covid-19, our Mission at Massanetta Program was suspended summer 2021. We will post updates as we know more about our ability to offer this program.

Christ said, “I came not to be served, but to serve.” As Christ’s disciples, we share in that commitment to service. Our Mission @ Massanetta program gives youth and adults the opportunity to share Christ’s love through hands on service. The focus of this program is to allow groups the opportunity for Christian service in the Greater Rockingham-Augusta County Area.  (Some groups prefer on-site work opportunities, those can be arranged)

Important Information

You Concentrate on Service, Let Us Take Care of the Rest!

TheMission @ Massanetta program  coordinates all the details for your mission trip to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Massanetta Springs organizes lodging, food, daily orientation and devotions, work sites and recreation, so you can put your time and effort into relationship building and spiritual development. Most trips are 2-6 nights in length, but we can customize your stay for any length of time.

Who Can Come?

We provide Mission @ Massanetta experiences for youth groups (middle & high school) with adult advisors, college and adult groups, and will work with intergenerational groups to find or create service opportunities for younger youth and children. The ideal group size for our partnering non-profits is 8-15 persons. A few sites will take up to 20. Larger groups will be split between work sites during the day. Meals at Massanetta and recreation will be done together.

Lodging

In air-conditioned cabins in lushly wooded Camp Massanetta. There are 4 villages; each village has 4 cabins (sleep up to 8 in each, 2 bunks, 4 twins), a shower house, and a building designed for group gatherings. A larger meeting space is shared by all groups.

Other lodging options are cottages (bunk beds) or dorm-suite style bedrooms (2 twins in each room, 2 rooms share an adjoining bath).

Relax in a rocker on the porch of the Historic Hotel, or in the over-sized living room with a huge stone fireplace with comfy leather sofas, just right for extended periods of lounging!

Meals

Provided in the Historic Hotel dining room, with accommodations made for special dietary needs. Bag lunches are provided on the days your team is away at a work site.

One on-site recreational activity

per day is included in your fee: swimming, canoeing, a campfire and a zip-line ride for example. Get-together games, sports equipment and playing fields are available for your group to have fun on their own. A wide array of additional resources can be provided, depending on the needs of your group.

Optional FreeDay/Afternoon

Many groups staying 3 nights or more choose to take all or part of a day to enjoy some of the many recreation opportunities the Shenandoah Valley has to offer. Massanutten’s indoor, year-round waterpark, a visit to Shenandoah National Park or Luray Caverns, a trip to the ice cream parlor or a movie night, just to name a few of many opportunities nearby.

Groups must have a minimum of one actively involved chaperone per seven youth; one adult per four youth is preferred for middle school and younger, or those who have never participated in a mission experience before. Both male and female chaperones are needed for mixed gender youth groups.

Registration and Fees

The nightly fee includes registration, food, lodging, coordination with work sites and one on-site recreation activity each day. (construction work may require an additional materials donation)

To stay in the cabins, it is $89 for the first night and then $69 per night per participant, and our standard lodging (dorm suite style rooms) is $99 per night per participant.
