Netta Day Camp gives kids ages 6-12 the chance to play, wonder, create, and explore in a caring Christian environment. Campers learn more about themselves, their neighbors, and how God’s love may be active in our world through faith-based programming and our dedicated counselors. Our themed week-long day camps are designed for every camper to have fun and feel like Netta Day Camp is a place for them.

At Massanetta Springs, our mission is to be “a place for all people to experience God through renewal, discovery, and hospitality.” Netta Day Camp is a way we bring this mission to life for our neighbors near Harrisonburg.
Camp’s Goal
To provide an introductory, faith-based, outdoor camp program that welcomes all participants and promotes renewal, hospitality, and discovery for campers and staff.
Desired Outcomes
WELCOME all participants to feel accepted and included, regardless of identity, faith, or background.
Promote RENEWAL by encouraging campers and staff to be excited and engage with the program
Extend HOSPITALITY by facilitating a safe community that meets participants where they are, and promotes empathy, kindness, honesty, and overall morality
Encourage DISCOVERY by presenting the chance to try and practice new skills and activities
Our Team
Counselors
It is important to us to hire leaders that believe in our mission to be a place for all people. Our counselor selection process includes interviews, background checks, and reference verifications.
We build a diverse team of counselors of different nationalities, identities, and perspectives. All our counselors have unique gifts for this work. Some are faith leaders, musicians, lifeguards, educators, fire-starters, artists, dancers, nature enthusiasts, and more. All are ready to be role models for our campers.
Prior to camp, our counselors complete training including best practices for camper supervision, camper development and interaction, safety policies and protocol, program facilitation, and first aid and CPR.

Thursday Overnight Program:
Spending the night at camp is a great way for campers to build confidence and experience camp in a whole new way.
Summer 2027 Thursday Overnight : Dates to be shared soon!
On Thursday morning, campers bring to camp anything they will need to have a successful evening at camp (packing list below). We permit overnight campers to bring a phone to call home that will remain in the care of camp staff until the time to call home. Campers without a phone to bring to camp will be able to use a camp staff’s phone to talk with parents if they would like.
At the end of the day on Thursday, campers remain in the free play space until it is time for dinner at the dining hall. After dinner, campers participate in activities related to the week’s theme. Around 7 PM, campers hang out around a campfire and have s’mores. Around 8 PM, campers are able to call home. Campers then get ready for bed and start winding down to rest for a busy Friday at camp!
In the morning, campers wake up, get ready for the day, and pack their belongings before breakfast at 8 AM. After breakfast, they head up the hill to free play with camp until the day officially begins!

Sleeping bag or bedding for a twin sized bed
Pillow

Our mission statement begins with the words, “to be a place for all people.” This means Massanetta makes every effort to welcome everyone. While our campership funds are not infinite, we will make an effort to make a Netta Day Camp experience possible. If the registration fee is the only thing keeping your camper from enjoying Netta Day Camp, please send a completed copy of the Campership Application to christine@massanettasprings.org.

Our pool has a shallow end (3ft-5ft) and a deep end (8ft). Campers must pass a swim test before they can go in the deep end. Swim tests typically occur each Monday, and campers will only need to pass once for the duration of the summer. Campers are not required to take the swim test if they choose to only swim in the shallow end of the pool. Campers are welcome to bring flotation devices (lifejackets, water wings, etc.) but any campers who bring these will be required to wear them at all times in the water.
Lifeguards are always present at the pool and while canoeing.
The playground is also available for campers who don’t wish to swim.
-
Daily lunch and an afternoon snack are provided during the camp day. We can accommodate most dietary requests if they are noted in advance in our Campwise registration system (see the Camper Profile form). Lunch is a buffet style and usually includes main and side dishes, a salad bar, and fruit. Campers are invited and encouraged to eat the lunch provided but you may send a pack lunch with them. Our site is a nut free environment for the safety of those with nut allergies, so any snacks or foods coming from home must be nut free. Staff are available to help campers get their food and can help serve food but campers largely choose their own meals.

In most cases, Day Camp traffic should enter Massanetta Springs property through the lakeside entrance. Signs are placed to guide the flow of traffic to the Day Camp space at Bell Auditorium (labeled “1” on the map). Campers registered for early care should use the main parking lot entrance and take the road behind the building labeled 2 on the map towards the back porch of the Historic Hotel (the building with the red roof).
-
Regular Drop Off (8:15-9:00)
On Mondays, please park in the field across from the Bell Auditorium and exit the car with your camper. Our staff will direct you into Bell Auditorium where you will walk through our registration process. At our registration table, we will check to ensure that all required camper forms and payments are on file. At our medical table, we will collect any medications and talk through any questions regarding your camper’s health based on the information you provided in their online registration. Finally, your camper will get their group assignment for the week, make a nametag, and be shown where to place their belongings before heading outside to play!
On Tuesday-Friday, you may remain in your vehicle on the road as your camper exits. We will take your camper's temperature and have you initial for your camper before you drive away. If you need to exit your vehicle to help your camper or say goodbye, we ask that you pull to the side of the road to allow traffic to keep moving behind you. You may also park in the field across from Bell.
Early Care Drop Off (7:30-8:00)
Early care drop off will occur at the back porch of the historic hotel. Please park your vehicle at the back porch of the hotel and walk your camper to the early care counselors. They will have you initial the sign in sheet and take your camper’s temperature. At 8 AM, our early care campers go to breakfast. If you will not be present by 8 AM, we ask that you call our office so we can connect your camper with the group or direct you to regular drop-off.
On Mondays, we will confirm your campers forms, payment, and medical information similar to the regular drop-off Monday registration process.
Late Drop Offs
If you know of a planned late drop off, please email christine@massanettasprings.org, so that we can coordinate the best drop off location to connect your camper with their group. If you have an unplanned late drop off, please call 540-434-3829 when you are on your way.
-
Regular (4:30-5:15 PM) and Late Care Pick Up (until 6 PM)
All campers are picked up outside of the Bell Auditorium. You may remain in your vehicle on the road as our staff checks your ID and informs your camper. Campers will only be released to adults listed on their authorized adult pick up sheet, verified by a photo ID. If you need to add an authorized pick up adult to your campers list, please email christine@massanettasprings.org.
Early Pick Ups
If you know of a planned early pick up, please email christine@massanettasprings.org. It is also helpful to communicate this information to our staff that day at drop off. If you have an unplanned early pick up, please call 540-434-3829 when you are on your way. Please be patient as these pick ups are a deviation from our regular schedule and involve many moving parts to coordinate.
If possible, please avoid pick up times between 3:30 and 4:00 PM. During this time block, it is particularly difficult to coordinate where your camper’s group will be as they change out of swimwear and transition back up the hill for the end of the day. Picking up your camper before 3:30 or after 4 PM gives us an easier way to connect you with your camper!

At Netta Day Camp, free-play, lunch, and pool time are all camp activities. During morning activities and afternoon rest, campers will be with their assigned groups. We try to keep our groups organized by ages: 6-8 year olds, 9-10 year olds, and 11-12 year olds. This can vary week to week. Please inform us of camper group requests using the Camper Group Request form. We try to accommodate all requests submitted by the end of the Friday prior to your camp session.
*Please note that if there is an age discrepancy between requested campers, the older camper will more often be moved to a younger group rather than the younger to an older group.
-
Days at camp are full of fun and excitement but sometimes campers may feel unwell, fall, skin their knees, or have upset stomachs. In moments like these our staff will provide appropriate care for campers in line with first aid standards, as approved by your camper's personal medical forms.
Day Camp staff will also reach out to a camper's listed contacts to update or to coordinate further care if necessary and/or provide a written note during pick up to update families about their camper's condition.

The online medical forms for your camper are required prior to your camper’s first day at camp.
